bachelor | the tierra anomaly

Hello. I can't NOT write about this season of the Bachelor. First and foremost, I have to admit regret that I didn't tie that cowboy down when we were at K-State at the same time... I would've used some smooth line like, "Hey. You play football here? I know Darren Sproles." (Nailed it.)

Anyway... Tierra. Doesn't Sean know that nice people don't have to say how nice they are all the time? Drama-free people don't have to say they don't like drama? HELLO! That girl is crazy. How many times does she need to sneak up on him in dark hallways crying for him to realize girl be CRAZY! You gave HER the rose? Really?!? Even though I have never seen Jackie in an episode before last night, she seemed like a nice girl. haha, let's just hope the producers stepped in to make this decision.

So far, my favorites are Catherine, Desiree and Fort Leonardwood. Good luck, Sean. I am going to give you the benefit of the doubt since your choice in colleges was right on. Don't prove me wrong.

adios.

A great part of my love of Wildcat basketball had to do with my love of Frank Martin.
He made us relevant. He made K-State basketball fun again.

Frank, you will be missed.

Big 12, Big Flop.

Colorado: No one cared about you anyway.

Nebraska: Thanks a lot for nothing. I guess $20 mil is better than a lot of history.

Kansas fans: Why do you keep putting up anti-KSU stuff on Facebook and Twitter about us trying to piggy back to a good conference? No. We just like like our history and wish things weren't changing - at least that is what I think the majority of us want. A friend posted on Facebook this morning that the Cats keep whining about our beloved rivalry and how the true rivalry is with MU. I don't care who you are... when you are raised in Kansas, you are asked from the time you are born where your allegiance is - at least in Wichita! I probably answered "I'm a Jayhawk" until I was in high school. Started saying "Go Cats" around my junior year... either way, I would be sad to see the end of the KU/MU border war and the KSU/KU sunflower showdown. Maybe I am just a sucker for memories...

Big 12: Go get some new teams so we don't have to split up!

Go cats! ...but don't go to Mountain West.

Hi, my name is Paige.

I have a reminder set on my Outlook calendar at work to check the Kstate basketball schedule for the week each Monday. Considering it is Monday and I did not work today, I was unaware that we were playing tonight. While out to eat tonight, Lisa texted that it was a close game so I was anxious to get home and watch some Wildcat BBall. Honestly, I was unaware of who we were playing, but I told John he could play some video games and I would read my new People mag and watch the game in my room... sounds great, right?

"John, where are the ESPN channels?"

"Somewhere in the 30s.."

So, I turn to channel 30 and sure enough, there are my K-State wildcats. But, sadly they were losing pretty badly to the UMKC Kangaroos... I think to myself, "this isn't a close game, a lot must have changed since Lisa texted..." So, I go on reading my People and every couple minutes or so I look up to see the score getting worse and worse. Because we are losing so badly, I pay very little attention. We lose 96-56. Wow, we aren't gonna be ranked anymore... weird. Why are we playing the Roos? Weird.

Before bed tonight, I was watching the sports news and see that K-State had a great victory against Texas. WHAT? What the heck game was I watching? What planet was I on? Haha... So, I checked the guide to see what channel 30 was... Metro Sports. I go online and look up their tv listings for the day, and I had been watching "Metro Retro," a UMKC/KSU game from 2003. This is why I need digital cable in my bedroom.

Hi, my name is Paige, and I am an idiot.

As I lay in bed now, Metro Sports is delightfully replaying tonight's real game. Go cats!

**UPDATE** I stayed up and watched the entire game. And yes, I did realize it was not just a game, it was THE game. Wow. Love me some wildcats. Fear the beard.

First one down

Another busy weekend, but a great one! I was able to cross #52 off of my List - I finally made it back to a K-State home game. I have become so used to watching the game on my couch, I forgot what it was like to be there for the real thing. It was a long day, but it was really fun. 100 to go!

A lot happening with my family right now... My dad learned very recently that his place of business will be closing. My mom has also been out of work since January. All you can do is count your blessings and do your best to improve your situation.

Skyler's death taught me one very important thing: today is your life - live it. Good day or bad day, hardships or blessings, I will search for joy and reason in each day.
