Last night John almost went down on the back porch taking Raleigh outside... and so winter begins! I love weather much more during the spring and summer. I love thunderstorms, I love tracking what is coming, I love watching it roll in from my porch... but, winter makes me anxious. My anxiety comes into play when I have to drive in it, or I have friends and family traveling in unsafe conditions. It makes me sick to my stomach. When we are home during a snow day, I watch the news ALL DAY. I love the coverage, the interviews, the perspectives from around town... and I prefer Gary's team on 41. I love it.
Last night Gary gave the winter forecast for Kansas City! I was trying to google it today for the specific stats, and I was stunned to find all kinds of posts from other meteorologists and news stations who use his model (the LRC) to predict weather in their own cities. (woot KC!) I am a total nerd for local news and weather.
He is predicting 15-28 inches this year, which would be fine with me - and above average temperatures. Awesome. Two out of the last four years were in the top five MOST snowy in history, and two years ago we had the LEAST snow in history. So, something moderate would be a welcomed change.
Here's to hoping for a couple snow days and a safe winter season!
I also was GIDDY about the snow forecast. Even if it means snow days forever.
