Give them the internet.

What a crazy day! We all gathered around the tv right as it was announced that Mubarak was stepping down. The room was full of mixed feelings (worry for what the immediate future may hold), but we were all excited for the Egyptian people!

Wael Ghonim was quoted today saying, "If you want to liberate a country, give them the internet." I got chills. He even gave Mark Zuckerberg and Facebook credit for the liberation - the liberation of a COUNTRY. The implications baffle me! But, it also reminds me of what I do every day... our organization was created because of the idea that connecting people around the world will bring peace faster than waiting on governments - and here is proof to that school of thought. Amazing.

We called our co-worker, Mickey, in Cairo right after we heard the news. We taped the call so we could share his response with our membership - check it out.

I might have done a celebratory jig for some lucky co-workers. I wanted to take to the streets in celebration along with the lovely people of Egypt.
