For Freakin Real

Today is my friend Jenni's birthday! Jenni and I have been friends since we were 16. Yes, this summer will mark 11 years of friendship. Wowza.

I am lucky to have this feisty, red-haired lady in my life. When I am spinning out of control with anxiety about something, this is the woman I call. She brings me back to earth. When I need some spicy, adventurous food, this is the woman I call. Years ago when I was mending my broken heart I mentioned to her that I was going to miss my nightly phone calls with the ex. And, there she was. Every night. For sometimes hours. Helping me maintain my routine, and helping me work through the grief. We probably kept this routine for over a year. I will always be thankful.

When I call she always answers with, "Hello, friend!" It's nice. We might tease her about putting make-up on in the car or being late, but deep down, we all love her for her quirky, unique spirit. We are all lucky, because there is no one else just like Jenni.
