Dear Interwebs,
I am really behind.
I spend November and December focused on the holidays, and decided January was baby time...
That was when I planned to get started.
And then the shit hit the fan.
I would love to hear from anyone about any type of baby-related recommendations.
daycares in northern Johnson County (eek! I know. I can't believe I still haven't done this!)...
favorite baby items....
must haves...
NON-must haves...
budget suggestions...
brands...
Hello! This is my first, so I need some help.
Recommend.
Now.
Ready, Go!
NOT to freak you out, but I would definitely get on the finding a daycare piece, most daycares have waiting lists....
ReplyDeleteWhen it comes to products and/or "must-haves" the best advice I ever got was trust your instincts. Especially in the first few weeks you won't need a single thing. besides diapers! all that babe wants is you :)

ReplyDeleteDon't panic! I went back to work without daycare lined up. I don't recommend doing that. This service will provide you with a list of in-home daycares that are convienient to your location. I know of a few centers in Lenexa. Most of all, pick the daycare that makes you feel relaxed.
ReplyDeleteAs for "must-haves"... you need a carseat to take Baby home, somewhere for Baby to sleep, diapers and some clothes. Ask someone with a baby to register for you and then you can go back to change the colors/styles of things.
You are going to be fine!
I have a very short list of 'must haves' -- those sleep dresses that are open at the bottom are great for night-time changes (and, you know, until about noon). A moby or some-type of baby carrier will make it easier to get things done around the house. Leah maybe already sent you her excel spreadsheet of baby registry stuff. Daycare will work itself out. I didn't have a solid plan until after I went back to work. Just enjoy yourself and trust that everything will work out -- because it will!
ReplyDeleteYes, you will be fine, don't worry. You'll get it all done and you'll find a daycare/babysitter! I would say even if you're dead set on breastfeeding (I was) have some bottles boiled/sanitized and ready to go just in case. (Turns out some babies *ahem Jona* are rather picky and only want a bottle.) Along those same lines, it was helpful to have a breast pump beforehand too, I took mine to the hospital and they hooked me up with some extra parts/storage stuff and whatnot. And yes to the sleep sacks that open at the bottom. Oh, and a sound machine. Couldn't live without it.
