Leave money out of the friendship.

I think talking about money amongst friends is uncomfortable. If you are having a rousing conversation about snowballing your debt or saving up your checks for a big purchase, that is exciting. I want to support friends in their financial endeavors. But, salary? Ick. I am tired of it.

Why is it that people of some professions think they can vent about their salaries in front of anyone? Sorry to all my readers, who are pretty much all teachers, but your profession falls in this category. Remember in the future - When you are venting about your salary to a non-teacher, you are making the person either feel guilty for what they make or you are creating resentment. Remember there are people out there that would kill for a Johnson County teachers' starting salary. You guys are not at the bottom of the totem pole. For 10 months of work, I think you guys are pretty lucky. And, eventually, when we all have children... you will get quality time with them in the summers that no other profession allows.
